Competence of high-efficiency particulate air HEPA filtration plus UV in forestalling aspergillosis

Objectives: To portray and research the reason for an episode of 10 instances of nosocomial obtrusive infection with Aspergillus flavus in a hematologic oncology patient consideration unit.

Setting: The hematologic oncology unit of a comprehensive cancer center.

Patients: Ninety-one patients confessed to the hematologic oncology administration between January 1 and December 31, 1995, for at least 4 sequential days were remembered for the review.

Results: twelve (18%) of 65 patients conceded from July to December 1995 were analyzed as having obtrusive aspergillosis contrasted and 0 (0%) of 42 patients conceded from January to June 1995 to similar patient consideration units.
